Project 2025 Schools Nº 522 and Nº 1089. Santiago del Estero Province.

Support Rural Schools by Donating Food and Educational Materials

Schools 522 “Rama Paso” and 1089 “Puerta del Monte”, located in rural areas of Santiago del Estero, face major challenges due to limited state funding for daily meals (around 2 dollars per month per kid). This amount barely covers basic supplies, often leaving out essential foods needed for a balanced diet.

During field visits, Argentina Chicago Foundation, in collaboration with Fundación San Genaro, identified the urgent need to increase food supplies and classroom resources.

In August 2025, during the visit of Silvana Mirto Masrur, the Foundation delivered a one-time donation of non-perishable food and educational materials to both schools. These donations covered food needs through December, allowing school funds to be used to buy fresh products like meat, eggs, and vegetables. Additionally, this donation enhanced the quality of learning with new classroom materials.

This initiative improved the nutrition, education, and well-being of children and teachers in rural communities of Santiago del Estero.
